Meet Our Team
In 2018 the Western Australian Melanoma Advisory Service (WAMAS) merged with the Kirkbride Melanoma Centre to create the WA Kirkbride Melanoma Advisory Service.
The WA Kirkbride Melanoma Advisory Service provides comprehensive advice from a multidisciplinary panel of specialists regarding the management of complex, advanced and metastatic melanoma. Our aim is to ensure patients receive the best available advice on their treatment and prognosis. We also advise referring doctors about any future management and are available for further involvement if required.
WAKMAS is an advisory service. We review clinical, imaging and pathology information provided by the referring clinician and offer expert recommendations based on the information available at the time of review. WAKMAS is primarily an advisory service. However, through its extensive panel of melanoma specialists, patients may be offered the option of receiving definitive medical and/or surgical treatment from clinicians affiliated with WAKMAS, either within the private sector or through the public health system.
Patients can be referred from a general practitioner or specialist. Staff at WAKMAS endeavour to have referrals reviewed within 48 hours and patients are contacted to arrange further appointments and review.
